Aren’t these cabinets gorgeous?
I built these kitchen cabinets out of big leaf maple, and the wondrous figuring and texture just glows in the light.
I built them for a customer who lives outside Bellingham in a beautiful log home. He originally called me saying he had an abundant supply of big leaf maple planks, which I planed and milled into these beautiful works of art. Big leaf maple is indigenous to the Pacific Northwest, and aren’t we lucky! The wood is so dramatic that it transforms ho-hum into oh wow!
I also built a screen to shield the back of a single cabinet and refrigerator. The shield is made up of a sheet of bird’s eye maple plywood and a series of glass panels. We thought the large panel needed something extra, so I carved a tree. A tree to honor such gorgeous wood.
The counter tops are of a beautiful Brazilian granite installed by Sam Clark of Clarkstone Installations. He did a fantastic job, and you can read more about him at clarkstoneinstallations.com.
